The political controversy surrounds vaccines

Topol and other scientists have sharply criticized the FDA in recent weeks, accusing Commissioner Stephen Hahn of leaving political pressure from the Trump administration, which has pushed the agency to approve COVID treatments more quickly.

Early discontinuation of studies poses a number of risks, such as a vaccine looking more effective than it actually is, Topol said.

"If you stop early, you can get an exaggerated benefit that is not real," because less positive evidence appears only later, Topol said.

Stopping early studies could prevent researchers from recruiting more minority volunteers. Currently, only about 1 in 5 participants in the trial are black or Hispanic. Given that blacks and Hispanics have been more severely affected than other pandemic groups, Topol said, it is important that they make up the bulk of vaccine studies.

"Early termination of vaccine studies also poses safety risks," said Dr. Paul Offit, a vaccine developer who is part of an NIH advisory group on vaccines and COVID treatments.

A smaller, shorter study may not detect significant side effects of the vaccine, which could only become apparent after millions of people have been immunized, said Offit, director of the Vaccine Education Center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. .

Researchers will continue to follow vaccinated volunteers for an entire year to look for long-term side effects, Redfield said.

Fauci also acknowledged that stopping a trial could undermine public confidence in COVID vaccines. One in three Americans is unwilling to receive a COVID vaccine, according to a recent Gallup poll. As for you: stay healthy during this pandemic and don't miss these sure signs that you've already had coronavirus.

Learn to be full of light!

Forget about "eating a lot and well", now is the time to "eat a lot and healthy". Choosing foods low in calories, but full of fiber and water, allows you to eat large portions and lose weight without knowing what that hunger is. Researchers in Pennsylvania wanted to wonder and asked more volunteers to eat a large salad with only "light" ingredients before meals, and others to eat a small but "heavy" food. The former ate much less of the following dishes, and the latter consumed an average of 8% more food than the latter, even though their salad was richer in calories. Eating a generous portion of low-calorie foods - such as a soup or salad, brown rice, lots of fruits and vegetables - is a perfect strategy for weight control. The feeling of satiety will appear immediately and, although we have not consumed any calories at all, we will feel full. Several volunteers participated in a study on the same topic in Los Angeles, gave up high-calorie foods and chose the ones with very few that they ate but could not. Nutritionists say they gained 800 fewer calories daily and this remained unchanged even though they ate 25% more servings than before.

Food with unlimited access to the plate
You need to eat more protein - they came out samples after studies that wanted to establish the link between certain foods, the number of calories and the feeling of satiety. We feel much fuller after consuming them, than after a meal rich in carbohydrates or fats. Give them green light and fiber because they have the same benefits as protein in this regard. Research has shown that if you eat 14 grams of extra fiber a day, you lose 10% fewer calories from your daily intake. This means that in four months you can lose 2 kg just because of this. So eat as many fruits, vegetables and whole grains as possible because the feeling of hunger that threatens your diet will disappear, and the number of calories is very small (gradually increase the amount of fiber in your diet so as not to upset your stomach).

Controversial negative calories
Negative calorie foods are those that burn more calories in their digestion than they actually contain. They are a kind of dream come true for everyone who faces weight problems: you lose weight by eating. Those who announced their discovery upset the world of diets. In the worst sense for those who have started to consume only these foods, in a desperate attempt to lose weight. Many voices dispute the existence of negative calories and say that even the most low-calorie foods bring us more energy than it takes to digest them. But here is the list of wonder foods: apple, pineapple, strawberries, grapefruit, papaya, oranges, spinach, celery, garlic, cucumber, carrot, radish, hot pepper, cauliflower. Proponents say that in order to extract nutrients from these foods, the body burns more calories than it receives from them. Eat them, because they are all pure health, but don't limit yourself to them!

Absolute delighted by "Whistle Bud"

Just returned from Bucovina, I said that I must write a review about the pension where we were accommodated and which deserves all the praise.

I arrived at "Mugur de Fluier" after a long search on the net for a Bucovina pension. We wanted a pension that would offer us all the comfort, all the meals, with some leisure facilities, more secluded, so that we could rest after 8 relatively tiring days spent on the seaside and somehow close to the monasteries.

After a long and tiring road (about 6 hours from Bucharest), we arrived in Gura Humorului and from there through the town of Frasin, in Vama commune. I found the pension quite easily, because the route described very well on the site, on the E576 road, right on the bank of the Doabra stream, a place marked with a banner, then another 1.5 km on a paved road to the pension.

When we arrived, around 4 o'clock in the afternoon, the parking lot was almost empty, so we pulled as close as possible to the pension. We were greeted by a nice young lady, who checked us in. I had paid in advance for a room with a double bed for 4 nights accommodation. So we were very surprised when we were taken to an apartment. It was explained to us that due to previous reservations, all the rooms with double or twin bed were occupied, so they accommodated us in an apartment for the same money. Of course I had nothing to object, the apartment was large, with a room that had a sofa bed and one with a double bed, bathroom and large balcony. Solid wood furniture, TV in each room, carpet, very clean, towels with the name of the pension, in short the pension deserves its 4 daisies in terms of rooms.

About accommodation:

The pension has 2 such apartments, where you can accommodate families with 2 older children, or even 2 families with younger children and 8 rooms with double bed and it was all the time we stayed there full of eyes. It is very clean and towels are changed daily. Each room has a balcony, ours faced right in front of the pension, at first we thought it would be noise from the terrace of the restaurant or parking lot, plus that in the courtyard of the pension was built another building, but our concern is not it had an object because it was very quiet and I slept without problems. With the windows closed there was complete silence, with the windows open or on the oscillation you could hear the stream flowing near the pension and the sleep was much more peaceful. I had no dissatisfaction / objections regarding the accommodation, everything was perfect.

About the table:

In the living room on the ground floor is the restaurant with a capacity of approx. 30 seats, but I think more people can dine there. The living room also has 2 TVs, audio system, laptop connected to the internet and it was very nicely decorated. The living room was on a small terrace, we preferred to have dinner there in the evening. As a general rule, the pension does not smoke, we were not smokers, we had no problems, but we noticed that some smokers had objections to the fact that the restaurant does not smoke, even if you could go out on the terrace. Considering that the boarding house also accommodated children (including our boy) and in addition that the smoke bothers non-smokers, it seemed common sense to me the policy of the boarding house and I did not understand the objections of those guests, but deh. some are harder to please!

As for prices, breakfast costs 25 lei, lunch 45 lei and dinner 35 lei. But I do not advise anyone to opt for the standard menus unless they are very greedy and have a roomy stomach. The portions are very large and we clearly could not touch everything that was put in front of us.

For example, a standard breakfast of 25 lei consists of: 2-3 scrambled eggs or a large omelet, a plate with 2-3 kinds of cheese, ham, meatballs or sausages, vegetables, olives, a plate of breaded zucchini or other food hot, 2 kinds of jam, honey, butter, a lot of milk, yogurt, cereal, a bowl of zacusca and a plate of sweets: cakes, donuts or cake. All in large quantities. Coffee is not included and costs 4 lei. We only took the standard menu for lunch, because we packed the cakes that we couldn't eat anymore and our little boy used them later, but instead, for lunch and dinner we preferred to say them for half an hour. before what I wanted to eat and I paid in the end what I had consumed.

I must say that the food is very very good, tasty, excellently cooked and all with natural and very fresh products, from my own household or from those in the area. That is, the milk was freshly milked, the yogurt barely caught, the cheese in countless varieties was home-made, the bread and all the homemade sweets a day before, the freshly caught trout from the river, and the carafe of water was from the spring. As a specialty, I list for example just a few: the mushroom borscht dressed with sour cream and hot peppers, trout with mujdei and polenta, tochitura or sarmalute with pork, baked potatoes with butter and sheep cheese or polenta with cheese and sour cream. I stop because only as long as I remember my mouth is already watering, but I emphasize that the house cooks can cook everything you want.

I also mention blueberries and cherries or brandy, served before the meal, of which we were absolutely delighted or the house wines, stronger or weaker, dry, semi-dry or sweet, according to taste. Of course, many drinks were available, including imported ones, but it seemed pointless for us to get into Bukovina's brains and not take advantage of local food and drinks, rather than serving Italian coffee, imported beer or canned juices. we are tired.

It must also be said that the meal can be eaten both in the restaurant and on the terrace or outside in the yard, in the pavilion or at one of the countless wooden tables spread throughout the yard.

Facilities / Services:

The staff of the pension was very kind and helpful, almost guessing our wishes and always with a smile on their face. The owners of the pension also get their hands on absolutely everything needed to ensure the comfort of their guests and it can be seen that they put a lot of soul into everything they have done or are doing there and it is worth giving for example.

In the lobby at the entrance to the pension and in the living room there are tables with leaflets and maps, a small tourist information point about the objectives of the area, which was extremely useful to us in our tour of the monasteries. And if the leaflets or maps do not enlighten you, then you can confidently turn to the owners, who are more than happy to give you the best clarifications or advice.

In the courtyard of the pension are available: a large, covered pavilion with a capacity of approx. 30-40 people. There is also a TV here so you can spend the afternoon at a barbecue, serving wine and watching a football match, as my husband preferred. Attached to the pavilion is the grill, equipped with everything it needs, so you don't have to make trips to the boarding house and back after the necessary ones.

A tree-house, a small and chic tree house, which is built just above the stream, my child was absolutely delighted with it.

There are many wooden tables with money, some of them covered with pavilions made of waterproof canvas, or stumps that take the place of tables and chairs, but you prefer the rustic style, the courtyard of the pension being very large so that more families or groups can sit outside, without to disturb each other.

For the children: a swimming pool, 2 sand playgrounds for very young children, swing and a good mini house to climb in it, a swing and a swing, all made of wood. Besides the pool, there were also some sunbeds for sunbathing, made of wood, but we didn't use them, being just back from the seaside.

There is also a ping-pong tennis table, and a place with a net where you can play tennis. There one afternoon a football match was organized between the gentlemen staying at the boarding house and my husband and I, on another day, preferred to play badminton.

But what I enjoyed the most were the hammocks hanging in the trees on the bank of the stream, where I "lay" almost every afternoon, with a book in hand, serving a lemonade brought to the tray by the girls from the boarding house. which somehow bothered me in some way and where, a few times, I fell asleep from the murmur of the stream, the strong and clean air and the absolute silence.

Being so beautiful and relaxing we preferred that, in all the 5 days we stayed at the pension, we spent the afternoon in the yard, while our boy slept, and in the mornings we went and saw the monasteries.

Only 2 aspects were somewhat disturbing regarding "Mugur de Fluier": the fact that I did not have a reception on the phone, reception only existing for Cosmote subscribers and the fact that the access road to the pension, especially when it rains, is a bit more difficult. not being paved.

As conclusions: an absolutely successful stay, at a pension where we felt like in Avram's bosom, which we will recommend to all our friends and where we will surely return with great pleasure.
